About Arrested Development

Have you ever thought to yourself that you have the most dysfunctional family ever? If so, perhaps, you can relate to Michael Bluth, the main character of the TV show, “Arrested Development.” Being the “normal” one in a family of crazies, Michael finds out quickly that the job of keeping up with his family business is nearly impossible, after his dad is imprisoned for fraud. Michael strives to keep his family together, despite their selfish and manipulative ways. After a glimpse into the life of Michael Bluth, with all its craziness and awkwardness, you will catch yourself laughing at the irony of it all. You, perhaps, might even relate to it. Though “Arrested Development” struggled in the ratings and switched time slots frequently, it won six Emmy-Awards and one Golden Globe since its debut in 2003. This TV comedy also made the Time Magazine’s 2007 Top 100 list of the best TV shows of all time. Despite the acclaim, the show constantly struggled to find an audience, and was shifted from time slot to time slot during the course of its run. “Arrested Development” showed the world that it’s okay to struggle with your dysfunctional family. As messed up as this family may be, you can’t help but relate to some of the characters, or at least find them to be hilarious. You may realize that some of your own family members resemble some of the characters in “Arrested Development.” The show was at times hilarious, bizarre, slapstick, irreverent, and brilliant, and made dysfunctional families entertaining, if not easier to bear.
