About Beats Headphones

Contemporary music has produced ancillary products that include clothing lines, sunglasses, and jewellery that combine to present a unique fashion style. Watch a Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber video and notice the latest fashion trend. Another hip line of products concerns the audio equipment that people use to hear the resonant bass lines of hip-hop music. In 2008, a Santa Monica company introduced a line of audio accessories and equipment that challenged the big electronics manufacturing companies for a market share. Founded by Dr. Dre and Interscope-Geffen-A&M records chairman Jimmy Iovine, Beats Electronics manufactures audio equipment that appeals to younger music fans. The company has partnered with Monster Cable under an exclusive licence and collaborated with several other upstarts to produce headphones and other listening devices. In 2010, HTC purchased a 50.1 percent share in Beats, which prompted the audio accessory and equipment manufacturer to get into the mobile phone business. HTC’s primary reason for the acquisition was to diversify its holdings for continued global expansion. The acquisition allowed HTC to produce smartphones that contain the Beats branded audio systems. Beats benefited from the acquisition by obtaining a much needed cash infusion, which allowed the company to push forward with research and development projects. In July 2012, HTC sold back half of its stake in Beats Electronics. Dr. Dre was instrumental in creating the first product line called “Beats by Dr. Dre”. The popularity of the company’s audio products led to collaborations with Hewlett Packard and Chrysler. Both companies began to offer products that included Beats high quality audio systems. Other companies, most notably Kia and Dell, have also approached Beat about licensing agreements.
