About Doctor Who
In 1963, a daft old man calling himself The Doctor stole a blue police box and set off travelling the universe, through all of space and time. Since then, Doctor Who has become an icon in British television and a cult television favourite among science-fiction fans elsewhere. The Doctor is a Time Lord, an alien with the appearance of a human but two hearts, whisks away his companions to see the wonders of the universe in the T.A.R.D.I.S., his spaceship that's bigger on the inside. The show has gone on and off the air periodically, with its longest break being 1989 to 2005, when the series was revived. Fans of the series can pick up many of the classic adventures on DVD, as well as the newer series on DVD or Blu-ray. Plus, there's a wealth of other merchandise. Look for "Doctor Who" tie-in novels and radio dramas to go with your DVD collection. Fill your closet for T-shirts and hoodies, scarves, hats, and other apparel, even costumes. Get your own sonic screwdriver or maybe a vortex manipulator. There's all sorts of jewellery and other merchandise for sale, including T.A.R.D.I.S.-shaped cookie jars and teapots, and figurines. When you've caught up on the shows, books, and radio dramas, keep yourself entertained with one of the Doctor Who video games, such as The Eternity Clock for PS or Evacuation Earth for the Nintendo DS, or Return to Earth for the Nintedo Wii; there's even a Monopoly game. With so much merchandise available, there's more than one way to show your love for the man from Gallifrey.
