About Dukan Diet
The Dukan Diet is a protein-based diet which has been designed by French nutritionist Pierre Dukan. The Dukan method suggests a healthy eating plan which is based on how primitive man fed when people were hunter-gatherers. This diet has become extremely popular and has been tried by a lot of people who deal with diabetes. The diet is based on eating foods that are high in protein and limiting carbohydrate consumption, which includes eating a lot of fruit, starchy vegetables, whole grains, and legumes such as peas, beans, soy, lentils, and peanuts. It includes 100 foods, of which 72 are animal-sourced and 28 come from plants. The trick is that you can eat as much as you like as long as you are sticking to those 100 foods. The first phase is called the attack phase and the goal is to lose weight rapidly. During the first ten days it’s important to eat protein foods seasoned with condiments but without carbohydrates. Calorie-free drinks are also allowed during this first phase. The second stage is called the cruise phase and it alternates days of proteins with days of 28 vegetables with no starch. You can eat vegetables steamed, raw, or in soups or stews. The following stage is called the consolidation phase and it starts once you’ve reached your goal weight and it also includes one portion of fruit and two slices of whole grain bread per day. This phase is important for preventing a person from putting lots of weight back on. In the final stabilization phase you can eat whatever you like, but following the consolidation phase rules. A lot of celebrities claim to use the Dukan Diet successfully.
