About Harry Potter
For those who want a little adventure mixed with magic that leaves your head up in the clouds, how about reading a book on Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling? It is made up of seven volumes with different themes with strange names. There’s the Philosopher’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, and the Deathly Hallows where the initial publication ran from June 1997 to July 2007. It was published by Bloomsbury Publishing in the United Kingdom and Arthur Levine Books in the United States. The ones available in Australia are from Bloomsbury. The series recount the exploits of Harry Potter and his mates, Ronald Weasely, Hermione Granger and more, during their stay at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Although the themes vary in every volume, the culmination is always centreed on Potter’s pursuit to destroy the main antagonist of the series, Lord Voldemort, a dark wizard who wanted to become immortal and purge people with non-magical abilities from staying in their world. The timeline is set at 1991 to 1998 and peppered by flashbacks of memories by other characters. Although the main setting is in a magical dimension, the portals to their world are set in the nitty gritty streets of London, where Potter lives during school holidays. Every volume has a strong following that catapulted it into the bestseller’s list. Rowling wrote supplemental short books related to the Harry Potter series where the proceeds were given to various charities. Books mentioned in the series, such as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Quidditch Through the Ages, and Tales of Beedle the Bard were mentioned or even read by the characters of the story.
