About Indiana Jones
Indiana Jones is a name synonymous with adventure and rare antiquities. Reserved archaeology professor by profession and bold adventurist in search of important artefacts, the character is one of the great heroes of the big screen. Directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Harrison Ford, the franchise achieved outstanding success at the box office. Fans love the Indiana Jones films for their mix of fantasy and adventure. Each film has a brisk story punctuated by humorous moments, and fans have difficulty agreeing on which film is the franchise's best. Audiences first met Indiana Jones in the 1981 film, Raiders of the Lost Ark. In that movie, Jones must foil the Nazis in their attempt to find and use the Ark of the Covenant. Jones returned three years later in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. A prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark, this film finds Indiana in China en route to India. Once there, he must navigate mountainous terrain and overcome a violent black magic cult to retrieve a sacred stone. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade came out in 1989, and the Nazis are once again the villains. Jones must first rescue his father, played by Sean Connery, from them and then get to the Holy Grail before they do. It was another 19 years before Spielberg directed the fourth film in the franchise, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. In a nod to Jones's age, the film takes place in 1957 rather than the 1930s. The new enemy includes Soviet agents who follow Jones to Peru to retrieve a crystal skull that could end the Cold War in the USSR's favour. Each Indiana Jones DVD offers impressive scenes, heart-stirring music, a sense of romance, and thrilling plots that are fun for the whole family.
