About Jurassic Park
Directed by Steven Spielberg and based on a best-selling novel by Michael Crichton, Jurassic Park tells the tale of the ultimate zoo gone wrong. Philanthropist and billionaire John Hammond, played by legendary director Richard Attenborough, has finally realised his wildest fantasies and created an entire island dedicated to his dream, the resurrection of extinct dinosaurs. He has transformed the island into a zoo-oriented theme park and invited his first group of experts to come and witness the miracle he has created. Quickly enough however this miracle turns into disaster when one of the workers sabotages the park and the dinosaurs break out of their enclosures. At the core of the movie is the philosophical speculation that man can't control nature. The natural world will always find a way to break free. Also starring Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum, this film was an enormous hit at its release and lauded for its realistic computerized graphics and rendering of the dinosaurs. The producers went on to create two more Jurassic Park sequels that involved people trying to take advantage of the dinosaur's islands. The film and its sequels are available on DVD and Blu-ray and come with additional features, including cast interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and commentaries. The original novel is still in publication and available in multiple formats. There are also a number of collectables around the Jurassic Park theme available in the market. Options are as diverse as model cars that were built on the same design as vehicles in the film, toy dinosaurs, and t-shirts. Toys from the original release of the first Jurassic Park movie are widely collected, as well, with pristine, in-the-box versions proving particularly valuable to the avid collector. Every kid loves dinosaurs and most of those kids grow up to be adults who love them, too. Jurassic Park has everything a dinosaur lover could want and then some.
