About Katy Perry
She kissed a girl, and she liked it. Pop star Katy Perry is a California-born singer, songwriter who likes to stir things up. Surprisingly, she was born to two conservative pastors. She began taking singing lessons at the tender age of nine, and learned to play the guitar when she was thirteen. One of her favourite early musical influences was Freddie Mercury from the band Queen. When she had just turned ages seventeen, Katy Perry decided to take a big step in her career, and she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her music. Life there was a struggle for the first few years. In order to get money to pay the rent, she was occasionally forced to sell her personal possessions, which she was happy to sacrifice to keep a roof over her head. Thankfully, all of her hard work paid off, and her big break wasn’t too far away. Katy Perry’s first real success came with the release of her album titled, One of the Boys. The CD generated three top ten songs, including I Kissed a Girl, Hot n Cold, and Waking up in Vegas. Success from the album snowballed into the Hello Katy tour and the Warped Tour. She has been quoted as saying her dream is to become a legend like Madonna, and her current successes might make that a very attainable dream. Katy Perry is clearly destined for greatness. For someone so young, she has accomplished a great deal. The world will be watching to see what road her career takes and whether she attains her dream.
