About Plants vs Zombies
Pop culture is currently preoccupied with the undead. Zombie hordes are on the march in movies and on television. It therefore comes as no surprise that zombies and their brain-eating ways have invaded cyberspace, too. "Plants vs. Zombies" is a critically-acclaimed tower defence action game available for Windows, iOS, and Android. The purpose of this game is to defend a house from advancing zombies, using various offensive and defensive plants. Seeing as how they are dead, these zombies move only in one direction, advancing along horizontal lanes. The player places various plant seeds in the way of the zombies. Seeds grow into plants that block or detain the zombies’ progress. The player starts with a set number of seeds, but the player can buy more using in-game money. Because certain plants are nocturnal and only grow at night, players must choose their seeds carefully. Some plants have unique properties. For example, the Magnet-shroom removes any metal items that zombies may be carrying or wearing, including protective helmets, ladders, and buckets. The zombies themselves come in various flavours. Some wear armour, while others can fly over plats. One zombie actually dances to summon his rotting brethren from the ground. Players can unlock various extra modes as they advance in the game; extras include a puzzle mode and several mini-games. Versions of the game for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network allow for multiplayer cooperative and competitive gameplay. There is also a Zen garden where the player can tend to special plants he or she wins during the game. This is a zombie game that, although cute, is certainly not child's play. Players must be strategic to avoid losing their brains to voracious zombies.
