About Project X
Project X, a 2012 film, set out to portray the wildest party scenes possible. Like many stories of unpopular high school teenagers, these kids just want to fit in and be invited to the same drunken parties that the popular teens in the school attend. In this particular tale, three geeky boys decide that they want to throw the best birthday party in an attempt to have fun and ‘get lucky'. The birthday boy, Thomas, is a sweet, innocent kid who has few friends and parents who think little of him. When he realises that his parents are going out of town for a weekend, his friends decide that this is their opportunity to throw their dream party filled with drinking, drugs, and debauchery. If you enjoy a good, rowdy, party scene, then this movie is for you; however, critics say that it is little more than a view of teenagers getting drunk or high, then proceeding to torture animals and destroy the car and house. Nothing good comes after the party is over and the teens have to reap the repercussion of their acts. The story is meant to appeal to those who have always wanted to fit in with the majority; however, it doesn’t take long before you realise how fickle ‘popularity’ really is. As the film clearly reveals, the kids labelled as ‘cool’ are often the ones out risking their lives with dangerous drugs and toxic amounts of alcohol. Of course as a result of the party and intoxication, the participants engage in reckless and illegal acts.
