Saints Row The Third

While a relatively new video game saga, the developers at Volition, Inc. keep the action of the Saints Row series going with the creation of Saints Row The Third. Released in 2011, it is an action adventure open world video game and follows Saints Row 2, released in 2008. In the game players control the leader of the Third Street Saints in a world based in the fictional city of Steelport. The storyline focuses on the urban gang war between the Saints and three gangs. As the gang war intensifies, STAG, an elite paramilitary police force lead by Commander Cyrus Temple is deployed to Steelport in an effort to disrupt the violence. The game retains a blend of action-adventure and urban warfare in an open world that is traditional of the Saints Row video game series. When playing at the lead of the Third Street Saints, the player can explore the new city of Steelport, complete main missions that help to progress the games story. They can complete side missions as well, although they are not critical to the completion of the game. The side missions can include activities, minigames, strongholds, and flashpoints. Strongholds are takeovers of rival gang bases for control of additional areas of Steelport, while flashpoints are on the spot gang warfare. Completion of missions in the game can gain the player in-game money, weapons, cars and even gang respect. The game uses respect as experience points which helps the player level up, with the highest level being 50. Each level gives the player the ability to spend money on improving specific attributes of their character. The game features both single player, and cooperative multiplayer mode. Combine this with interconnected story lines, and this third edition is the Saints Row series is sure to keep players entertained for hours on end.
