About Snoop Dogg
His mother may have named him Calvin Broadus, but most music fans know him as Snoop Dogg, or more recently in his latest incarnation, Snoop Lion. Snoop Dogg is a rapper, and has also worked in music production and tried his hand on the silver screen. Snoop Dogg was recruited by Dr. Dre to appear on his popular album The Chronic, and a career was born. Snoop then went on to produce his own bestselling albums including Doggystyle and The Doggfather. His catchy rhymes, mischievous grin, and laid back style were an instant hit with fans of the genre, and even non-rap fans. Snoop has not only hit it big in music, but has had roles in the movies The Wash and Bones, along with his own television shows, notably a funny sketch show that showcased his comic skills called Doggy Fizzle Televizzle, and a reality show that showed the candid side of Snoop Dogg and his family, called Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood. Snoop is married and has three kids with his high school girlfriend, Shante. The father of three has made a fan base due to his creativity, sense of humour, and rap style, which has been described as simple, but melodic. Snoop has found himself at the top of the charts, and in a prison cell when he had some legal troubles including drug possession, a murder charge, and assault. The colourful rapper seems to take it all in stride, and in 2012 decided to change his famous moniker to Snoop Lion, citing the fact that he had been given the name on a trip to Jamaica.
