About Toy Story

Many children make believe that their toys come to life when no one is around. In the 1995 movie ‘Toy Story’, this is precisely what occurs. The film features the exploits of Woody, a cowboy doll who is the favourite toy of his human owner named Andy. The drama unfolds as Andy is given a birthday party one week before his family is going to move to a new home. Woody and some other toys go on a mission to find out just what new toys Andy is getting for is birthday and learn to their dismay that Andy gets Buzz Lightyear, a dashing and adventurous space ranger who believes that he is a real ranger on a mission to return to his home planet. Buzz becomes Andy’s new favourite toy, to the horror of Woody, who accidentally pushes him out of the window to prevent him from going on a family outing with Andy. The other toys believe that Woody has killed Buzz and they turn against him. The remainder of the movie follows the misadventures of Buzz and Woody as they are kidnapped by Sid, a young boy with a reputation for doing terrible things to toys. As they try to escape the clutches of Sid and reunite with Andy, Buzz and Woody develop a bond that helps them overcome their previous animosity toward each other and work together to make it home. In the end, they are reunited with an ecstatic Andy who is happy to have found his missing toys. Toy Story became an instant box office success and has been considered one of the best animated films ever made.
