Enter into a supernatural world where vampires live along side of the humans. True Blood is an American TV show that is produced and created by Alan Ball. The programme is based on a series of novels written by Charlaine Harris called The Southern Vampire Mysteries. The show focuses on the life of Sookie Stackhouse, who is a waitress with telepathic abilities living in a fictitious town in Louisiana. In the US, the show is broadcast of the premium pay cable network HBO. A great deal of critical acclaim has been received by the show including an Emmy and a Golden Globe. Actors playing starring roles in the show include Anna Paquin, Sam Trammel, Stephen Moyer, Ryan Kwanten, Rutina Wesley and Chris Bauer among others. The opening theme song to the show is the song Bag Things by Jace Everett. As of 2013, five seasons and 60 episodes have been released. A sixth season is scheduled to premiere on 16 June, 2013. The music for the show is composed by Nathan Barr with supervision from Gary Calamar. The True Blood soundtrack albums have won two Grammy Awards. The debut of the show was preceded by an alternate reality game that included several websites. A comic also preceded the series and focuses on an older vampire called Lamar. DVD and Blu-ray discs of each season of the programme have been released, and several of them have been best sellers in the US. Several of the season sets contains special features such as audio commentaries, Vampire PSAs and special reports. The series has been broadcast internationally in over a dozen markets.
