Walking Dead

Watch out for the walkers in this terrifying drama show. The Walking Dead is a US TV show based on the graphic novel series by Robert Kirkman, Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore of the same name. The show is developed by Frank Darabont and stars actors such as Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Hoden and Jeffrey DeMunn among others. The programme begins as Sheriff Rick Grimes wakes up a coma and finds out that he is living in a post-apocalyptic world that is filled with zombie-like creatures called walkers. He takes off to find his family members and finds other survivors on his mission. The show runs on the AMC cable channel in the US and made its debut in 2010. IN Australia, the show is broadcast on Fox International Channels. As of 2013, three seasons of the series and a total of 34 episodes have been released. A fourth season has been announced as is in development as of 2013. Much critical acclaim has been received by the show including a nomination for a Best Television Series Drama Golden Globe Award. Ratings for the programme have been strong in the US with more than 12 million viewers tuning in to watch the premiere of the third season. The episode has become the most watched TV drama series in the history of basic cable. The theme music for the show is composed by Bear McCreary. DVD and Blu-ray editions of the first seasons have been released which contain special audio commentary and bonus featurettes as well as interviews with the actors.
