About Who Wants to Be A Millionaire
Check out the drama as contestants vie for the million-dollar prize in this video game based on the hit game show. Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? is an Australian TV show based on the original UK version and is part of the international franchise of the same name. The show premiered in Australia in 1999 and ran for 10 seasons before concluding in 2010. A total of 300 episodes were produced. The show ran on the Nine Network and was produced by Grundy Television and 2waytraffic. The programme was hosted by Eddie McGuire. This video game is a parody of the TV show that was released by Simon & Schuster-Interactive and created by Hypnotixc Inc. Released in 2000, the game is available for Sega Dreamcast, Windows 95, and Windows 98. The game features parodied characters such as host Egregious Philbin, contestant Ronald Hump and contestant Melvin Dotcom. The object of the game is to answer multiple choice questions right by buzzing in with an answer. Thereafter, a gamer makes an assault on another character in the game. After an opponent has been defeated, they fall off the game ladder in a parody to the question ladder from the TV show. The last player to remain on their ladder wins the game. Three lifelines are available for players to use when they are stumped including fortune cookie, pass the buck, and chicken out and one or the other. Although the video game is loosely based on the US version of the TV show, the format is very similar to the Australian version.
