A paper, pen, and print revolution
Although early forms of record-keeping exist on rocks and papyrus, modern day paper gives a home to countless facts and figures. Paper was invented in China and eventually reached the West. Although paper manufacturing required less effort than other methods, its widespread use only became possible through another key invention that changed history: the printing press. Throughout the 19th century, papermaking saw further enhancements until the creation of fountain pens, pencils, and other literary devices launched a revolution that helped advance the industrialized world by strides.
