First Editions and Rare Books
Carefully selected books that are important, because of their literary value, historical significance, subject matter, or rarity. Many were Pulitzer prize winners for fiction - or the author won a Nobel Peace prize (Dag Hammarskjold). Most I have bought at estate sales and second hand stores. I determine the price based on how much I would need to be offered to be persuaded to give them up. I've started to collect first editions of children's books, too, because of the fascination of looking at the original of a classic that has been reprinted thousands of times. Any beloved childrens classic without torn pages, fingerprints and crayon markings, and an overall battered condition, hasn't been read - even once!
