Vintage house wear
This collection is devoted to clothing worn about the home. Garments include dusters, housecoats, pinafores and aprons. Vintage items reflect an era when garments were worn for activities such as cleaning, cooking, serving tea and lounging as well! My introduction to house wear was when I was a teenager visiting my grandmother. She would produce a dark blue duster from the hall closet. It was A line shaped, loose fitting with pockets, had 3/4 length sleeves and white pearlized snaps. A red tie was attached to the neck. Tea time was a formal occasion at my grandmother's. First, I would step into the housecoat, do up the snaps, tie the scarf at the collar and then put on a pair of her oval earrings. Once dressed, I would set about placing china on the table for tea :)
