|The 1953 Roosevelt dime is the desired addition to the collection of an avid coin collector. Made from 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper, this Roosevelt dime weighs 2.5 g. Designed by John R. Sinnock, chief engraver of the U.S. Mint, this silver coin bore the image of President Franklin D. Roosevelt after his death by replacing the Mercury dime. However, the obverse design of this Roosevelt dime has Sinnock’s initials as “JS” at the base of Roosevelt’s neck. Commemorating the President’s great contribution in the founding of the National Foundation to eradicate Infantile Paralysis, this 1953 Roosevelt dime silver coin was chosen to honor him. Moreover, with a diameter of 17.9 mm, this Roosevelt dime is given a reeded edge.|
