The Apple iPhone 4 was my first and so far only iPhone I have used (I have since moved onto Android). Before my acquisition of this device I was an iPod Touch user. Having much experience with the iPod Touch, the transition from that to this iPhone was easy.
There are plenty of features on this device that you would come to expect on a 'smart' phone. Camera, touch screen, bluetooth, Wi-Fi, everything is in this phone. Runs on Apple's iOS which for the most part works, it is highly stable and there are very few glitches. Icons are big and easy to press, very sensitive but controllable touch screen.
The phone itself isn't too big to hold, although the screen I feel is a bit too small for my liking. Glass front and rear is a definite risk of breaking, a case is highly recommended. The iOS is quite restricting, there are some programs/software, such as Flash, are not supported and the phone would probably require a jailbreak of some sort for those who like to run those programs.
For those who do not have much experience in tinkering with the software internals of an OS should probably buy an iOS device as Apple pretty much sets up everything for you.
For those who like to change to movable backgrounds, true multitasking, run their own programs or would like to play flash games on their phone then an Android phone would be better for you.
Battery life is very good for a phone of this type but again that may be due to the small screen (in comparison to a galaxy s2 or htc hd7) and its single core processor.
Buying this device as is is quite expensive, especially when there are plenty of other choices on the market that are significantly cheaper and hardware wise more powerful. Get this on a plan from the network provider is the cheapest way.

Buying this product was an impulse buy. I did not need or want a new phone but when I decided to search for mobile phones and the most popular search was for an iPhone I thought I would have a look and see what second hand iPhones were selling for.
I began bidding on my item when there was only a few minutes left which looking back was both an advantage and a disadvantage. The advantage was that I won the item, the disadvantage was that I didn't get an opportunity to ask questions as there was not enough time.
The phone works pretty well but I have discovered that the inverted camera doesn't work but I do know that it is common for these types of phones to freeze. This minor imperfection hasn't made me regret the decision to buy the phone. I am very happy with the product especially for the price I paid.
It's only downfall is the battery life is not the best and needs to be charged every night depending on the usage during the day i.e. Social networking, Internet, music etc.

The iPhone 4 is one of the best smartphone's on the market right now. The combination of gorgeous new hardware, that amazing display, upgraded cameras, and major improvements to the operating system make this an extremely formidable package. Yes, there are still pain points that we want to see Apple fix, and yes, there are some amazing alternatives to the iPhone 4 out there. But when it comes to the total package -- fit and finish in both software and hardware, performance, app selection, and all of the little details that make a device like this what it is -- we think it's the cream of the current crop. We won't argue that a lot of this is a matter of taste -- some people will just prefer the way Android or Symbian works to the iPhone, and others will be on the lookout for a hardware keyboard or a particular asset that the iPhone 4 lacks -- but in terms of the total picture, it's tough to deny that Apple has moved one step past the competition with this phone. Of course, in the hyper-accelerated smartphone market where the Next Big Thing seems to always be just around the corner, it's anyone's guess how long they keep that edge.

Excellent product - but whats with the micro sim?

Buying this phone gave me one headache, you need to resize your sim or buy a new one as it takes micro sim cards. This is something that I wasnt aware of.
When I got it my first reaction was '#@$% i got to buy a new sim card', but luckly you can modify your regular sim yourself with scissors or buy a cutter from ebay (couldnt find one in any local shops).
Theres a few sites on the net that explains what to do - its not hard, just be gentle. Looks like apple was saving space, or just being gimicky, as the working part of the sim is no different.
The phone is heavier than the 3GS but i dont mind that. Least you know where it is.
Easy to use, reliable and has style.

I have used a wide variety of phones and all I can say is I do not believe there is a better phone on the market at the moment, they are very simple for anyone to use and have heaps of features and not to mention the app store is huge and there are plenty of things to keep you entertained.
The Apple iPhone 4, has revolutionized mobiles, with its stylish design, high retina display, HD recording, immense amounts of applications, desirable touch screen, glass front and back and features that have changed the world as we did know it prior to its release.
All up, the BEST phone I ever invested in !
