Review For: BlackBerry Playbook 64GB, Wi-Fi, 7in - Black Tablet
Though running anything but Android or iOS (Blackberry OSX or an implementation of it), it certainly is feature packed. The fact it has 64GB of internal memory is a steal, given the price ($158.72 - So good that I ended up buying two!)
The internet browser is faster than anything I've ever used in a tablet, let alone a computer. Pages load faster than you can read this sentence. Pages render quite nicely and you do have the option of switching between mobile and desktop view, like a lot of other tablets. The interface is fluidic and quite easy to use with a minimal learning curve. The camera quality isn't great, but it's a tablet. The form factor size is just perfect for browsing the net or viewing videos on long trips. It doesn't come with email support initially until you update the OS. Battery life could be better (I was able to get 5.5 hours through moderate usage however it's probably because I haven't got the settings right. If done correctly, you could get close to 8.5 hours).
If apps are your thing, you can forget this tablet because it just doesn't have the breadth or quality of apps one would come to expect from Android or Apple. It does have the capability to use Android 2.3+ apps but I'm yet to explore this option fully.
Hooking up the tablet to your BlackBerry phone is a cinch, especially if you're not near a WiFi hotspot. Just go into settings and set up BlackBerry Bridge and you'll be up and running in no time. I just wish my Vodafone data connection was faster.
