The EOS 7D has a cross-type 19-point AF system with improved AI Servo AF subject tracking and user-selectable AF area selection modes for sharp focus no matter the situation. The EOS 7D's Intelligent Viewfinder provides 100% coverage and displays user-selected AF modes as well as a spot metering circle and on demand grid lines. iFCL metering with 63-zone dual-layer metering system uses both focus and color information to provide accurate exposure even in difficult lighting. The EOS 7D also captures Full HD video at 30p, 24p and 25p with an array of manual controls, including manual exposure during movie shooting and ISO speed selection. ) Second one purchased. First so good I upgraded my backup. Did all the research and found that really the only difference of any substance between the 1D, 5D and the 7D occurs at very high ISO where the full frame is a bit better. Not something I have to worry about in a studio.
As the 7D is a cropped 1.6 I even save on the L series lens', not requiring the extra length. I notice even canons new version of the 1D, the 1DS is going to be cropped to 1.3. There is a message to all professionals insisting on full frame, the high tech side of digital has changed so try and keep up.
Highly recommend this camera for professional and hobby photographers. Save your cash, buy this camera and spend the change on one or two L series lens'.

) Ok, I received today my Canon EOS 7D kit.
The manual was all in english - easy to set up and a great picture quality as expected. However, when I started the camera first, the menu was in chinese? I found a youtube tutorial explaining how to switch it inside the menu to english (which was very easy and didn't take me 1 min)
The set came with the 18-55mm lense and instead of the advertised 55-250mm lense with a 75-300mm lense X) which is just as great (if not even better) from my view, but still I thought I should mention.

A value for money camera that in some functions punches above its weight.

The 7D is a 'bang for buck" camera that performs well in comparison to other more expensive professional Canon bodies. It is however not a 1D-but comes close- & neither is it a 5DIII. However for anyone requiring the extra "reach" of a 1.6 crop factor camera this will not let you down. If cost is no object then this is a useful tool to complement other bodies deignated as professional by Canon & not by me. All my lenses are L lenses & include the exceptional 300 f2.8 L IS.

) Magnificent Camera , cheap to buy reasonably easy to use , has a hell of a lot of things to learn how to use , but straight out of the box full auto awesome pics ..video recording inside the house was fantastic .. i am using a canon 50mm f1 lens tho ...magnificebt nachine
