) I was tired of carrying my heavy DSLR cameras and several lenses over many years and went looking for a more lite weight "all in one" camera that would do most of what I wanted. The Fujifilm Finepix HS20 EXR was the closest I could find as far as weight, functions, and long zoom lens available on the market.
After a few "test outings" I felt so confident that the HS20 would do everything I wanted I left all my SLR equipment at home and travelled to New Zealand on holiday with only the HS20. The photographic results of that holiday were so good that a friend who I travelled with, also a big SLR fan, asked me to order an HS20 for her immediately. I did this and she is now seeing the same great results.
I shoot mainly in manual mode and Raw format but all the HS20 modes function very well and the Auto mode is great for beginners. The panarama mode, self stitching, works very well at the 180 degree setting but I would always recommend the use of a tripod with this function. I could not get the 360 degree setting to work even with a tripod.

) I have been using the HS20 as my main camera for now over 6 months. It is great alternative if you do not want to lug around a full-on DSLR with all its related (required) equipment.
The HS20 is not really for a "point and shoot" type of photographer, although it does that well. The camera is more for the photographer who wants/needs more control over what his camera does.
To get the most from this camera, you need to learn a bit about photography and how shutter speed, ISO, aperture, focus and focal length affect the resultant photo. The HS20 give you complete control over all of these variables.
I would highly recommend this camera to the photographer who wants to experience more from photography.

Excellent overall easy use camera

camera for the last 5 years is the S9000 i cannot part with
that camera.I class the HS20EXR in the same league as the S9000,the HS20 is easy to use has great features and style.
the only problem i have had is with the use of the Panorana,
The Rest of the setting are great,i have tried every one.in
manaul setting the camera is like using my film SLR cameras.
I would like the Panorana to do the three-four set photos,but
you cannot have everything overall great buy, great camera,
good camera to take on holidays for quick and excellent shots.
