) Excellent flash! At the beginning i was still hesitating which to buy between SB-700 and SB-900, in the end i made the decision to get the SB-900 instead; simply because it is the best and the flagship of Nikon's speedlight. I don't have to worry about upgrading in the future if the SB-700 doesnt provide enough power for me.
It is definitely worth the extra bucks getting this flash. I upgraded to this flash from Nissin Di622 which i used for a year, it was a good flash but it no longer satisfies me. The SB-900 produces consistent and accurate i-TTL outputs where as the Nissin can be quite volatile sometimes. Another upside to the SB-900 is its accuracy when shooting into the sun too.
The advantage of this flash over the SB-700 is the extra output, wider zoom range, PC sync pocket and multi flash mode.
The downside of this flash is the giant size, if you need a flash to walk around whole day for a casual shooting, SB-700 will be the choice. Unless you have a D300 and above, the SB-900 will make your camera look small. The SB-900 also tends to make noises when you start it up and zooming, at first it can be annoying but if you're outdoor or you use it long enough, you will get used to it.
IMO, nothing will go wrong if you buy this speedlight. SB-700 is better for casual uses but the SB-900 gives you the extras when you need it. Just in case one day you think of turning pro or start making money out of photography, you won't have to spend the extra bucks to upgrade again!

very easy to use, quite powerful, great all rounder.
