I've found the flash to be of excellent build quality - probably a little shy of the 580EXII, but it's about 95% there for half the price.
Even though some reviewers say the recycle time is slower than the Canon, I can't say I've had to wait at all in my testing so far.
Coming from Canon branded flashes, the menu can take some getting used to, but it's pretty easy to figure everything out without even looking at the manual.
The LCD screen refresh looks a bit slow at first, but it's not really something that causes any issues.
The subflash adds some great fill light to bounce flash images, and can be turned on or off dependent on the look you're after.
The off camera slave ability works fine with my Canon 600D, using the popup flash as the master to trigger the Nissin. With a few indoor test shots I was some 6m away with the Nissin behind me and it still triggered.
The good thing about this unit having the ability to act as a master controller for other flashes is that you can buy one of these and a couple of Yongnuo's to use as slaves for the same total price as a single 580EXII. The creative possibilities are endless without having to break the bank.
There is a very slight operating sound (what could only be described as "crackling") when the flash is powered on. It's only noticeable if you really listen for it and I'm guessing it's the capacitors. I did a search on it and it seems to be normal with them, not causing any issues or problems, but just thought I'd mention it.
Overall it's an impressive bit of kit and great value for money.

Having a Nikon sb400, I wanted a flash with more power and more bounce options. The Nissin Di866 mk11 is remarkably easy use, but with plenty of user options if you need to expand. For the money, it's unbeatable value( I got mine from DWI).Compared to all the other choices, I'd buy this again.
