Review For: Sony Ericsson XPERIA S - 32GB - Black Smartphone
What first caught my eye about this phone was it's sleek, elegant and stylish appearance as well as the unique transparent band at the bottom (c'mon don't say you didn't think that looked cool!). I liked the overall look of it. What really sold me though, was the excellent camera and video quality, afterall I was looking for a good camera phone. It has a 12MP camera and takes really clear shots if you can get the focus right. I've had friends and family (that own samsung, apple phones etc.), be amazed at the quality and ask me to send them pictures! Also the quick snapshot feature that allows you to activate the camera when your phone is idle is a great addition and very convenient as I have a password lock (and don't want to keep entering it). So I'm very happy about the multimedia aspect. The size of the screen is no doubt impressive and makes great movie/video/internet viewing. However, the glossy screen means that it's also prone to fingerprints...as well as many other phones on the market. Now, an annoyance is the three capacitive dots at the bottom. Yeah, they're not very capacitive. They sometimes work and sometimes don't, you have to touch it in a specific area - usually a bit higher than the dots. Another peeve of mine is the software update. I'm not sure if this is just my phone but I've been experiencing problems with trying to update to ICS. It always fails or there's an error. C'mon Sony, work it! Then there's the battery life. I'd say it's quite average, yes I have to charge it everyday but that's because I'm constantly viewing something or playing games on it. If you're just using the phone for basic functions and the occasional internet browsing, it shouldn't pose a problem...but then again that defeates the purpose of a smartphone. I guess it just takes knowing what really drains your battery and tweaking your settings accordingly, because I can successfully get through a day without it dying on me. Other than that, I'm enjoying using the phone and am happy with my purchase!

I bought this phone based from its specifications features like camera memory end etc,
After using it I felt like it needs some improvements in touch screen response and battery life mainly. The comparison is done with Samsung Galaxy S2. In general it is an average modern phone to me.

Review For: Sony Ericsson XPERIA S - 32GB - Black Smartphone
Bought this product because it is very powerful and functional, with the inclusion of a micro-HDMI port and the use of NFC tags. The phone's design itself is also very aesthetically appealing.
The camera is quite possibly the best one currently out in the market featuring 12MP, and its BRAVIA engine enhances and allows for beautiful visuals when it comes to viewing images and videos. Relying solely on internal storage alone, the lack of SD card compatibility might deter some away, but from my perspective it provides better security for your phone's contents.
However, a device that powerful needs a battery that can keep up, lasting around half a day when subjected to demanding usage. Battery life could've been done better.
This is a product that outperforms the iPhone 4S in almost every department, and is also much better value for money.
Sony have a done a terrific job with this device which will give their competitors a good run for their money.

Good as a phone, with plenty of other features limited by battery life

Call quality very good, and ability to get and hold reception better than other phones I've owned. Fast processors useful for browsing and tethering to laptop. Battery okay, and better than expected from reviews, though screen does need to be dimmed. With external power, screen is fantastic for watching movies or photos. ICS installed, but OS not as easy to learn to use to manage phone contacts and messaging as older androids, or even symbian.
