What are Dark Spots

When skin is exposed to the sun, the production of cells called as melanocytes perks up which in turns trigger the melanin in the skin. As a result, your skin develops dark spots. They generally appear on the back, face, hands, neck, chest and shoulders.

Common Causes of Dark Spots

Some of the common causes of dark spots include aging, exposure to sun, and genetics. Moreover, some people also develop these spots because of weak liver functioning, pregnancy, stress and vitamin deficiencies.

Natural Remedies for Dark Spots

Though there are a number of products that are available in the market to treat dark spots, many people prefer to use the natural treatments. Following are some of the most powerful home remedies that can help remove your dark spots without causing any harm to your skin:

Lemon Juice. Since lemon juice has bleaching properties, it can be used to treat dark spots. In addition to helping you lighten these marks, lemon juice will also help you have a cleaner, softer and more beautiful skin. Just apply lemon juice directly on the affected area and leave it on for about half an hour. Rinse it off with cold water.

Aloe Vera. Aloe vera aids skin regeneration and can be a wonderful natural remedy to get rid of dark spots.  Rub aloe vera gel on the spots and leave it on for about 20-30 minutes.

Buttermilk. This is another useful natural treatment that can give you great results. Buttermilk has lactic acid that helps exfoliate the skin to get rid of dark spots without drying out your skin.    Apply it on the dark spots using a cotton ball. Let it stay on the affected areas for about 15-20 minutes. Now, Wash your face with water.

Make sure you use these home remedies at least 1-2 times a week to get the desired results. In case you notice no improvement, consult with a dermatologist.
