  • Size:  It is important to measure the size of the area where you would place your lamp if you’re planning to buy a floor lamp. If you’re planning for a table lamp, measure the height and circumference of the table. Plus, you also need to consider the weight because a lighter lamp might be at risk in areas with children. If you wish to go for hanging lanterns, they should be sized properly.
  • Style: For every contemporary household, you need to keep into consideration the décor of your room before you choose a lamp. It need not be too matchy to look good. An elegant piece will work wonders.
  • Brightness: Now, you need to consider the primary function of the lamp, be it mood lighting, reading, decoration or safety. Choose the fabric of your lamp shade accordingly. Go for an opaque fabric if you wish to decorate the room only and a translucent fabric for reading purposes.
