All You Need to Know About Planning a Wedding

That perfect, joyful day usually only comes after months of stress. However, if the bride and groom work together and have a thought-out plan, putting together a wedding can be a much simpler and enjoyable experience. To accomplish tasks more easily, one may focus on doing certain things in a set amount of time rather than trying to take on everything at once; for example, there are some details that should be taken care of more than six months before the big day, others a day before. Make planning a wedding even easier and cheaper by searching for the supplies through eBay.

Six Months Ahead

Six months before one's wedding is the time to start thinking about what type of wedding is wanted: formal or informal, large or small, any specific theme, and what time of year it should take place. A date for not only the big day, but for the honeymoon should be set, as well as the locations for the ceremony, reception, and honeymoon. All the people who need to be hired for the big day should be booked at this point, including officiant, caterer, florist, musicians for ceremony and reception, wedding coordinator, photographer, and videographer. Other details that should be set in stone six months or more ahead of the wedding includes the bride's wedding dress, shoes, and accessories, the choosing of attendants, completing the guest list, ordering the cake, and setting the budget.

Four Months Ahead

At least four months ahead is when equipment needs to be bought or rented, including any tables, chairs, and tents, wedding rings, groom's suits and attendants' attire, favors, gifts for wedding party, accommodations for out-of-town guests, and stationery for invites and thank-yous. At this point, the bride and groom wants to register for gifts so the guests know what to get, and dance lessons can be signed up for.

Two Months Ahead

When it gets close to two months before the wedding day, details need to be sorted out, such a specific menu, the order of the service, wedding vows, and readings for the ceremony. A time for the rehearsal ceremony and dinner needs to be set, and invitations should be sent out.

One Month Ahead

At least a month ahead of time, any and all official documents that are required need to be obtained. A marriage license, any blood tests that are required, name changes, and change-of-addresses must be completed. Additionally, a guest book must be purchased and programs printed. Optionally, the bride and groom can ask newspapers to publish wedding announcements.

Two Weeks Ahead

Specific plans for the guests must begin at this point, including a seating plan, a solid guest count for the caterer, and where any out-of-town guests are staying. At this point, the bride wants to start breaking in her weddingshoes and make sure her dress is fitted correctly.

One Week Ahead

The week before's tasks are confirming; confirming the honeymoon plans, seating plan, and catering details. Each member of the wedding party should have responsibilities at this point as well.

The Day Before

On the penultimate day, the ceremony should be rehearsed, transportation needs to be confirmed, a rehearsal dinner should be held, and tips and payment envelopes should be prepared.

The user should also have knowledge of how to measure herself to ascertain what size she is. To get a shoulder measurement, run a measuring tape from one end of the collarbone to the other. For a bust measurement, one must pull the measuring tape across the fullest part of one's breasts and across the shoulder blades as well. For waist, wrap the tape around the natural waistline of one's body. To measure one's hips, pull the tape across the widest parts of one's hips. And finally, to measure the inside of one's leg, the tape must run from the top of the inside leg at the crotch down to the ankle bone. In all these measurements, the user must hold the tape firmly but not too tightly on the body.
