It is common for water to become trapped inside the ear canal after swimming. This can cause problems as moisture left inside the ear canal can cause "swimmer's ear. Swimmer's ear is an infection in the outer ear canal, which runs from your eardrum to the outside of your head. Swimmers ear can cause a number of problems including itching, severe pain, complete blockage of the ear canal, redness and swelling of the outer ear , swelling of the lymph nodes and fever.
