A quick guide to identifying an original Australian Venus and Mars LP:

Hi, my name is Peter.  Below is another quick guide and this time I'm concentrating on the Australian issue of the album Venus and Mars by Paul McCartney & Wings.

1) The album cover was a gatefold and was unlaminated.

2) The inner sleeve just had the Venus and Mars artwork in different formats.

3) It came with two posters and some stickers.

4) The record label came with three (3) variations within a year.  The 1st issue had the catalogue number PCTC-254 on the left side next to the MPL logo.  The 2nd issue had the PCTC-254 covered over with a silver banner and the catalogue number PCTA-254 added to the right of the spindle hole.  The 3rd issue had the PCTA-254 moved over where the previous silver banner and PCTC-254 had been.  So the original first issue label had the UK catalogue number of PCTC-254 and then it was changed to the Australian PCTA-254.

Note: The Australian catalogue number of PCTA-254 appeared on all the covers irrespective of what label version was inside on the record.

So the original first issue of this LP is simply identified by the UK catalogue number appearing on the record label.
