BUYING REAL GOLD ON EBAY

THIS IS MORE OF A WARNING THAN A GUIDE

I saw an 'Italian' Gold Necklace go for around $600.00 ~ the weight was 75 Grams and I though what an excellent price UNTIL I looked at the ad's Heading ~ it had Gf ~ Gf ~ MEANS GOLD FILLED.

GOLD FILLED JEWELLERY IS NOT ~ 100% 9Ct GOLD ~ It is usually 1/10 or 1/20th 9Ct Gold mixed with other alloys ~ Sometimes known as ROLLED GOLD, though it is somewhat a different process.  BOTH OF THESE ARE NOT 100% 9Ct GOLD.  ~  GILDED ALSO IS NOT ~ MEANS IT HAS BEEN DIPPED IN A 9Ct GOLD WASH

If you see and it will usually be on the Heading not in the DESCRIPTION (if the person is not Honest) Gf;  GF;  rG; RG; GL ~ These pieces are NOT 9Ct Solid Gold Jewellery at all ~ All these pieces will peel over time and the Gold will rub off. EXCEPT the 'OLD' GF and RG made back in the Victorian or early 20th Century.

Whoever made these Antique pieces usually with beautiful Engravings (Mainly Bangles) definitely knew what they were doing.

HONEST SELLERS WILL TELL YOU IN THE DESCRIPTION THAT THESE PIECES ARE NOT 9CT SOLID GOLD THAT THEY ARE INDEED GOLD FILLED WITH SO MANY MICRONS OF GOLD AND THAT THEY HAVE A METAL CORE. ~ THEY ARE HALLMARKED THIS WAY

PLEASE BE SO CAREFUL WHEN BUYING GOLD ~ TAKE IT TO YOUR JEWELLER WHEN YOU RECEIVE IT ~ SHOULD ONLY COST YOU A FEW DOLLARS TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. ~   Another scam is to have Hallmarked Clasps at each end and the middle where the Necklace is is Gilded or Gold Filled.

READ THE SELLER'S FEEDBACK -HAVE A LOOK HOW LONG THEY HAVE BEEN TRADING.  THE PEOPLE THAT DO THESE THINGS TO CHEAT YOU DO NOT STAY LONG.

EBAY IS A GOOD PLACE AND I LOVE SHOPPING ON EBAY, I AM AS CAREFUL AS POSSIBLE AND IT IS ALWAYS THE VERY FEW THAT SPOIL IT FOR THE REST ~ EASILY 99% OF SELLERS ARE HONEST, JUST WATCH OUT FOR THAT OTHER 1%

HAPPY SHOPPING!!
