Nursery Furniture - Cots (Cribs)

Baby cots, (also known as cribs) are one of the most used pieces of nursery furniture, and come with several features to make your baby's sleeping times as easy as possible. Before choosing a cot, think about what would be of help to you.

If you plan to use the cot often, or aren't very tall, drop sides can be an excellent feature. You can place your baby gently onto the mattress without disturbing them. Some drop sides are advertised as noise free, which is a fantastic feature to have, if your baby is disturbed easily.

Many cots have an adjustable mattress height which in turn gives you more use for a longer period of time. The highest level is for a newborn baby, you won't have to lower the baby too far down. The next height is lower, suitable for babies that can pull themselves up, but not being able to climb over the edge of the cot.

Depending on the design and make of the cot there are also some available that even have a lower level added for more safety, as your baby grows and becomes stronger.

Some cots come with wheels. This can be very helpful to you if you will be moving around frequently from room to room. If you do not require use of the wheels, they can easily be locked off so that the cot stays in the same position.
