Got the latest iPhone 4? Or still the favorite iPhone 3G? Regardless, there are loads of apps you may need to have. I started with a few when had the first Gen iPhone, now two years and 250,000 apps later, this same list needs to be a bit more comprehensive. Here are some Australia's favourite free apps, plus one that costs less than a gold coin.

eBay — search and buy or manage your eBay profile (Vote 'Yes' for my review if you agree! lol :)
Amazon Kindle — read your Kindle book purchases without a Kindle.
Facebook — an app that needs no introduction.
ABC — one of the richest and most attractive news apps available.
Skype — tap out text or call using Skype-to-Skype calling.
Shazam — music recognition and one of the coolest party tricks on the App Store.
Remote — control your desktop iTunes using your iPhone.
Tweetdeck — our pick for the best free Twitter app on iPhone.
Telstra Scan Code — a simple QR code reader from Telstra.
TED — stream inspiring and mindboggling videos from the TED forums.
Stanza — like Kindle but with links to free book stores.
Pocket Weather AU Lite — for people who need more detail than the iPhone weather app offers.


Allrecipes AU — a huge collection of fantastic recipes.
Domino's — a truly great app for the world-famous pizza parlour.
Home Delivery and Takeaway (Menulog) — order in from the couch.
UrbanSpoon — find local restaurants with flick of your wrist.
Cocktail recipes — got the booze? We've got the recipes, thousands of them.
Food Advisor — where not to eat: use Google Maps to find the worst restaurants in Australia.

Run Pee — (not free) find out when your movie drags so you can run and pee.
Trailers International — links to the latest movie trailers.
Joost — like YouTube, but different.
IMDB — a must-have for the budding movie buff.
PocketCinema — Greater Union's app for buying movie tickets quickly.
Rotten Tomatoes — read the reviews before you cough up your cash.

Mobile Foxtel — watch Fox using Telstra's subscription streaming service.
Google Earth — feel like a God with the world in your hands.
Taptu — visit only mobile websites and save on your data costs.
Google Mobile App — hot-links to the best Google has to offer.
Layar — use the iPhone's camera to point you in the direction of points of interest.
Cooliris — turn a Google image search into a 3D wall of awesome.


Location and travel services
Mocal — a wealth of location-aware services packed into one handy app.
Metlink Melbourne — transport times for Melbournites.
AroundMe — identify points of interest around you on Google Maps.
Public Trans: Brisbane — transport times for Briswegians.
TripView lite — the same again, for Sydneysiders.
FourSquare — location-aware social networking. Are you the mayor of Burger King?

IM+ — our favourite multi-client instant messenger.
eBuddy — a close second to IM+ for the IM crown.
LinkedIn — link into the largest social network for business professionals.
Ping! Lite — free iPhone-to-iPhone messenger.
Awesome Emoji — make messages fun again.
Fake Call — on a terrible date? Fake Call to the rescue!

Philosoraptor — there's something in this for everybody.
