DAVID EDDINGS, Passed away at his home in Carson City Nevada on 2.09.2009 from a stroke. David Eddings was 77 years old. He and his wife and co-author Leigh Eddings ( Judith Leigh Schall/Eddings) who passed away on 16.02.2007 also from a stroke had no children and are survived by the remaining members of their respective families.

 VALE, David Eddings 7.07.1931 ~ 2.06.2009.

There are many differing views when it comes to buying Eddings novels. Some will say the only true 1st Editions are published by DelRey, and while that statement is correct, the UK published versions are more highly sort after. This has to do with the artwork on jackets and the overall presentation of the books. The price guides are just that, a guide!. There are many factors that influence price for these books. Ideally your book should be in FINE condition or NEAR FINE. This means the book is presented in unread condition with no sunfading, foxing, shelfwear on the book or jacket or any decernable damage what so ever. BEWARE of books stating "Ex-Libris", these are ex Library books and while they may be in good condition they will have library stamps and other markings on them. This will greatly reduce their value and collectability.

**** Please note that Leigh Eddings (Judith Leigh Schall), David Eddings' wife and Co-Author passed away in February 2007 after a series of strokes, Anything signed by Leigh is now highly prized. ****

ALWAYS ask for the complete numberline and publishing date from a seller if they have not provided that information. Many so called "1st Editions" are a second , third , fourth etc.. print of the first edition.

I have been an Eddings collector for many years and have been fortunate enough to have all of his works in 1st Edition, 1st Printing Hardback with Dustjacket from all of the various publishing houses. I am also fortunate enough to have had every single volume in my collection personally signed by David Eddings. If you need signature verification please let me know as a signed book is far more valuable. Even more so with Eddings as he never held book signings.

A personal signature to the title page or on the free end paper is far more desirable than a signature on a "Book Plate".

Eddings is published by various houses, I hope this guide helps you navigate the mine field. I have started with his first novel here.

HIGH HUNT..1st Published by G.P.Putnam, New York City, New York.USA in 1973. Expect to pay from $120 onward for a 1st Edition Hardback with Dustjacket.
