THOUGHT I SHOULD PUT PEN TO PAPER MERELY TO DISPELL SOME MYTHS,I READ IN A GUIDE PROVIDED HERE THAT FOSSILS ARE GREAT TO KEEP ,ON THIS I CAN AGREE.

FOUR FACTS THAT MAY HELP.

1. CHINESE FOSSILS ARE AT BEST A HUGE RISK AND AT WORST ILLEGAL TO BUY.

2.MORROCCON FOSSILS ARE AT LEAST 70%FAKE AND THAT WAS GIVEN AS A CONSERVATIVE ESTIMATE.

3.I HAVE NOTICED THAT MANY OF THE GREEN RIVER FISH MAY BE FISH BUT HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THE GREEN RIVER AND IN SOME INSTANCES EITHER THE USA.

4.HUGE AMOUNTS OF COPAL SOME I BELIEVE FROM NEW ZEALAND AND OTHER SPOTS APPEARS NOW AND THEN AND SOME NOT ALL JUST SOME IS MISS LABELED MADAGASCAN AMBER OR COPAL.

BEWARE.

HOWEVER I THOUGHT IT MAY BE OF SOME HELP TO POINT OUT THAT FOSSILS FROM MORROCCO IT IS ESTIMATED ARE ON AVERAGE 70% FAKE IT I THINK IS WELL TO BE AWARE OF THIS.

AS FOR CHINESE FOSSILS FOR INSTANCE NOT ONLY ARE MANY FAKE BUT IT IS ILLEGAL TO TRADE IN SEVERAL TYPES SO REGUARDLESS OF WHETHER DINOSAUR EGGS ARE FAKE OR NOT DOESNT MATTER TO BUY THEM IS TO MY BEST RECOLLECTION ILLEGAL.

AS AN ARCHAEOLOGIST I AM DISMAYED THAT SO MANY ARTEFACTS ARE FOR SALE I HAVE NOTICED A NUMBER OF ABORIGINAL LITHIC OBJECTS FOR SALE ON THIS SUBJECT I WOULD ADVISE STRONGLY YOU CHECK THE LAWS WITHIN YOUR OWN STATES THEY VARY QUITE A LOT.

IT IS ALSO NOT A DONE THING TO ENCOURAGE THE REMOVAL OF ARTEFACTS FROM THEIR FIRST CONTEXT AS BY DOING,THIS ,MUCH OF THEIR VALUE TO RESEARCH IS REMOVED .THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

ONE SMALL PIECE OF ADVICE THAT MAY HELP WHEN BUYING IS LOOK CAREFULLY AT THE ITEM MANY FAKE FOSSILS AND THIS IS A GOOD WAY TO SPOT MORROCCON ONES LOOK TOO SIMILAR THERE A PARTICULAR PIECE OF ROCK WITH A TRILOBITE ON IT I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS TIME POSSIBLY TRILOBITES WHERE ALL CLONES AND ALL DIED IN THE SAME POSITION BUT IT UNLIKELY HAPPY HUNTING.
