Calculate Postage

Sellers are making exorbitant profits (and ripping you off) by specifying excessive Postage and Insurance charges for every type of memory card.  These do not cost more than $2.50 to post anywhere within Australia.  In fact, as all these cards are practically indestructible, particularly as they come encased in hard plastic containers, they can be posted in an ordinary envelope with a 50 cent stamp.  However, a bit of bubblewrap costing another 50 cents will help.

ebay has a clear Policy regarding what sellers can charge for Postage and Insurance and what they cannot charge.  Please see this link: ebay Policy on Postal and Insurance Charges

This links specifies that seller may only charge:

Actual Postage cost: This is the actual cost (i.e. postage) for posting the item.

Handling Fee: Actual packaging materials costs may be charged. A handling fee in addition to actual postage cost may be charged if it is not excessive.

Insurance: Sellers offering insurance may only charge the actual fee for insurance. No additional amount may be added, such as “self-insurance”. Sellers may only offer postal insuranced provided by a licenced 3rd party insurance provider.

Insurance:  Australia Post charges $2.50 for Registration, which includes FREE insurance cover up to $100 plus tracking.

If any seller refuses to comply with this policy, you should report the seller to ebay using the "Report This Item" link at the bottom of the listing.

If you are buying from overseas, say, Hong Kong, check the postal rates using the online Hong Kong Post calculator.  I cannot give the links to the Australia Post Calculator or all the International postage calculatots in this Guide as ebay does not permit external links.  But do a search in Google for Australia Post or Hong Kong Post or USPS or Royal mail and you will be able toi find Postal rate Calculators.

Let us do something about these fraudsters and make ebay a cleaner place for honest people.
