Is Greenhouse Heating Necessary? Gardening in winter is not for everyone but with our reliable tube heaters there is no need to hang up your gardening gloves. If you are wanting to extend your growing season and enjoy the benefits of greenhouse growing all year round then yes, some form of heating will be necessary.

When choosing an option to provide heating for you greenhouse it is important to consider a range of aspects.  Firstly are you after a radiant form of heating or a fan forced method of heating.

Radiant heating can be gentler and is ideal for warding off the frosts and providing heating for exotic plants incl orchids.  An electric tube heater has many advantages. They are comparatively cheap to install, can easily be moved and provide frost protection and low background heat. They also use less than 50w per foot of power, similar to an ordinary light bulb, offering a more economical alternative to fan heaters and a cleaner alternative to paraffin heaters.
With the fan forced methods, you do not need a large heater, anything above 2kW is just going to burn power and overheat the space.

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A major safety aspect to consider is that 3kW and 5kW heaters will actually require a  12Amp and 20Amp supply respectively and a typical household outlet is only rated at 10Amps, therefore you will most likely experience the circuit tripping out or worse still the wiring could overheat and cause a fire.

The electrical safety board recommends that any appliance / electrical device be run of its own dedicated circuit if it is rated at more than 10Amps.
As our range of electric fan heaters are only rated at 8Amps, you can be sure that they are safe to use and will not overload you power points and circuits.

Greenhouse gardening is a wonderful hobby and a great way to improve your gardening skills. Once the hard work of planning and assembling the greenhouse is done, you'll be rewarded with years of enjoyment spent in your greenhouse. Plus you'll have bigger and better plants to show for your efforts.
