Most of us appreciate a mouth-watering wood fired pizza right? Wouldn't be great if we are able to cook our own classic Italian pizza at home whenever we wanted?  So, how can we make this happen I hear you ask? The answer is you need a wood fired pizza oven. When you start shopping around, you'll find a range of different designs, but before you get too excited, the most fundamental question you need to ask yourself is should I choose clay or a stainless steel wood fired pizza oven?

To help you decide, we've put together a quick reference guide outlining the pros and cons of both.  the main differences are as follows:
  •  Timing: Clay pizza ovens need more time to achieve the optimum cooking temperature and will generally take 3-4 hours. A stainless steel wood fired pizza oven only needs 45 minutes and you will be cooking pizzas in around 3 minutes.
  •  Strength: Clay pizza ovens can crack if not constructed properly. A stainless steel pizza oven does not crack.
  •  Clay pizza ovens need to be built in a specific area and that is where it'll stay for eternity. If you choose to relocate, the clay pizza oven stays behind. With stainless steel pizza ovens you do not have to worry as it is on wheels and you can take it with you.
  • Appearance:  If like a classic rustic look, then a clay pizza oven is definitely the choice. But if you want a modern look to go with your stainless steel BBQ and new outdoor entertaining area, then the stainless steel pizza oven is the way to go.
  •  Price: Stainless steel ovens are much cheaper than clay to buy simply because they are easier to construct. You'll pick up a stainless steel oven for around $1,200. Clay ovens can either be purchased as a kit or fully built and assembled anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000.

So there you have it, the pros and cons on selecting the right pizza oven for you.
