Like another eBay person, Sarah7770_2, I too bought what I thought to be the real deal, Tiffany and Co bracelet. I have since discovered that it is not the real deal & as I actually own a lot of real Tiffany there is really no excuse for me. Funnily enough when I received the bracelet I did notice that it had some tape across the heart, the bag it came in was not the same quality as the real ones I own and thought to myself - "Tiffany would never package their jewellery like this". I should have listened to my gut instinct. So more fool me for trying to get a cheap deal.
I paid paid $100 for mine and though it is a lot of money to some, I think I got off cheaply - it was a relatively cheap lesson to learn, unlike Sarah who paid nearly $400. I have since seen SEVERAL OBVIOUSLY FAKE bracelets/necklaces, necklace/bracelet sets etc floating around - DO NOT BUY THEM.I HAVE RECENTLY BEEN CONTACTED BY ANOTHER EBAY PERSON WHO BOUGHT A FAKE ON EBAY. THE QUALITY OF THE FAKE WAS SO BAD YET THE SELLER PROCLAIMED "AUTHENTIC TIFFANY". PLEASE - DO YOU RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO GET A CHEAP DEAL HERE'S SOME TIPS TO FOLLOW: 1) INSIST ON SEEING THE PURCHASE RECEIPT FROM THE TIFFANY STORE OF PURCHASE. EVERY PERSON I HAVE ASKED WHEN SELLING THEIR "AUTHENTIC TIFFANY" WAS THAT THEIRS WAS AN "UNWANTED GIFT" OR "I DON'T WEAR SILVER" ETC ETC. THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO SUPPLY ME WITH THE STORE RECEIPT. IF SOMEONE HAS GONE TO TIFFANY TO BUY YOU A PRESENT OF SOME EXPENSE, SERIOUSLY, THEY WOULD KEEP THE RECEIPT FOR JUST THIS REASON! SO IT CAN BE RETURNED OR EXCHANGED IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT. I AM SURE SOMEONE GIVING YOU SUCH A LOVELY GIFT WOULDN'T WANT YOU SELLING IT FOR HALF ITS WORTH ON EBAY? 2) TIFFANY NEVER, EVER, EVER PACKAGE THEIR CHARMS ATTACHED TO THEIR JEWELLERY IN PLASTIC TAPE. 3) JUST BECAUSE IT IS STAMPED 925 WITH TIFFANY DOESN'T MAKE IT AUTHENTIC. IT MAY BE SILVER BUT ITS MOST LIKELY NOT TIFFANY. 4) AT THE END OF THE DAY, IF YOU REALLY WANT TIFFANY, GO TO THEIR STORE & PURCHASE IT THERE. ITS QUALITY & SERVICE & YOU CAN SEE CLEARLY WHAT YOU'RE PAYING BIG MONEY FOR. 5) YES, THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO DO HAVE THE GENUINE ARTICLE TO SELL BUT SADLY, THEY ARE FEW & FAR BETWEEN FROM WHAT I CAN SEE ON EBAY.
Report fakes on ebay when you get a chance and as Sarah says, encourage others to do the same. If you really want Tiffany & Co, go to the store and pay the price they want. And another thing, like true designer labels with good reputations - Tiffany doesn't go "on sale" as some people describe. I have never known in all my time of dealing with Tiffany of them ever having a "sale" and I have bought many corporate & personal gifts from them . Go to the store in your area - it is worth it for the quality & the peace of mind that you are getting the genuine article. As they say, you get what you pay for and if it seems to good to be true, it probably is.
This has left a sour taste in my mouth from eBay. There doesn't seem to be enough happening to combat this issue.
Also thanks to jasmec1234 for her photos & info on how to spot fakes. So true that the quality of the packaging is rubbish compared to the real deal. Have a look for yourself & read her guide. If this saves you from spending a fortune on something worth nothing then its worth it.
