Finding Items that you can pick up from close to home

I have found it useful to limit searching for bulky items such as furniture, white goods and vehicles close to home, so that it is easy to pick them up yourself or arrange to meet at an agreed half way point. To do this, once you have signed on and put in your password, you do to the home page for searches and click in Advanced Search. You then enter in the item keyword and category as with the traditional search page.

However you then scroll down the page further until you come to a heading Location.

Under this heading you can limit your search to a certain distance from your own postcode or from your closest major city. The search results then only display items that are within those limits.

This method certainly saves a lot of time rather than wasting time looking at items that would be costly to transport from interstate.Although in saying that I have bought an fabulous Blanco cooktop from Melbourne for a total of $60, including transport to Brisbane. Couriers Please are a cheap firm for delivery but you do have to have someone at home during office hours to receive delivery of the item. So if the item is not overly heavy it can sometimes pay to look interstate as well. Of course with smaller items the postage is not so expensive anyway, so I don't use the Location limiter in this case.

The Advanced Search option also provides other possibilities such as searching for items at a certain cost, searching for items worldwide etc; but I have not personally found these to be as useful as the Location limiter . Happy Ebaying!!!
