This is a brief guide to tell you about the Geelong heritage jumper issued in 2009 to commemorate the football club's 150th anniversary.
The guernsey has been produced in a wide range of sizes. The club colours of blue and white hoops has been adapted so the hoops are obvious but are blue colour is made up player names. The players shown on the jumper are those who played for the club since 1897 - when the VFL began.
Text printed on the inside collar of the jumper includes the false and misleading claim that it "carries the names of the men who have had the honour of representing the Geelong Football Club in its first 150 years."
As noted above, only the names from 1897 are on the jumper - 112 years worth.
The inside collar text also misleads by claiming Geelong are "the second oldest sporting club in the world." Nonsense, GFC is not even second oldest Australian Football club in Victoria, let alone any other status !
