Dear all,

As there are increasing numbers of people using eBay, I decided to write this guide to share my experiences with all of you! Also as a seller, I really wish my customers can read this too! Because I wish them to receive their item as soon as possible and be able to shop in my store just like they shop in a real shop.

Sure it is exciting to have your first item purchase on eBay! And to have a happy and fast transcation, you will need an efficent seller as well as to become an efficent buyer. This is a responsibility for BOTH sides because:

Delievery Time = Time from Auction - Time when the item arrives at your place = Time used by buyer + Time used by seller

Alot of the delay can be avoided by reducing the time used by the buyers. Since it's a lazy guide, and I know lots of people don't like reading, I will keep it short:

1)Complete the check out process (By pressing Pay Now, Essential!)

2)Make Payment as soon as possible WITH REFERENCE (either eBay username or item number)! (Very IMPORTANT!!!)

3)Check you email at least once a day and always email the seller by using eBay Message (Not clicking "Reply" in your inbox, instead click on "Response Now" in the eBay message)

4)Choose the fast payment method if you want it fast ( Paypal or Bank deposit Fastest). There are some important things about payment method which I will include in another lazy guide.

5)Choose the fast and the right posting method (Express will be of course the fastest, however, registered should also be considered if you don't have a secured mail box or you live in a place where the the item is hard to deliever or easy to be stolen)

If you can do these 5 things, most of your transactions should be lighting fast (assuming you are buying from an efficent seller).

This is the end of this lazy guide and I wish all of your transactions will be easy, fast and happy. For those who want to understand more please continue the reading:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are some more explanations:

1) Complete the check out process

Fail to do so may take extra time because seller can't see the buyer's address when the item is ready to send. Also fail to check out may cause the seller posting your item by different posting method. E.g. if you want express post and if you didn't complete the check out, the seller may not remember and just assume you may want regular post. Moreover, the check out proccess allow you to choose where the item will be posted to. Thus completing the check out is an first essential step to a fast transaction. Also I would like to note that some sellers may have different check out systems, please read their description carefully before purchasing their items. In addition, if you would like to complete a check out with mutiply items, please wait till you have won all the items before you completing the check out. Somer sellers don't allow combined shipping if you check out seperatly.

2) Make Payment as soon as possible WITH REFERENCE!

Firstly, the earlier you make the payment, the earlier you will get your item. Secondly, it is very very very x 10^10000 important to include the reference (and a good reference too!!!). For Example, if there's a seller who sells like 20 books everyday, and if your reference is "Book", this is the same as you didn't say anything. Since lots of sellers have so many transactions each day and may be all the same prices, it will be exteremely hard for them to know that you have purchased your item. In the worst case, they may need to wait till all other trascations in that period to complete before they know that the payment belongs to you.

For multiply items (seller is selling an multiply items), eBay username is preferred because there maybe a few buyers buying that item which has the same price and same item number. On the other hand, if you are buying a few items from the sellesr, item numebr is better since they will be able to tell which item you are paying for.

3)Check you email at least once a day and always email the seller by using eBay Message (Not clicking "Reply" in your inbox, instead click on "Response Now" in the eBay message)

I had an experience that I just click "reply" when the buyer contacted me. However I didn't receive any response from that buyer for like a few days. Then I started to notice that after I clicked "Reply", the email I replied is sent to an eBay "pleaseclicktheyellowbutton" email address and they didn't get to the buyer at all. After that time, I have learnt a good lesson that either I click reply and check if it is sent to the buyer's email address or simply click the "Response Now" yellow button. I would suggest to use the Response Now button as the eBay should have your email records if some conflicts arise.

It is very bad that you may think you have told the sellers something but they still haven't got anything YET. They will eventually know however it may be too late and  misunderstanding usually happens.

Also it is very important to check your email once a day (of course I would suggest as much as you can). Email usually is the only way to communicate between you and your seller. Fail to communicate will cause a long delay especially when there're things that have to be solved before the seller post your item. E.g., confirmation of you address, confirmation of your payment etc. For example, you have chosen express post becuase it's an urgent birthday present for your love one. However,  if the seller is running out of the item and emailed you to ask  if you want another color or a refund, the longer you found this out , the more likely your present can't make it on time.

4)Choose the fast payment method if you want it fast ( Paypal or Bank deposit Fastest).

When will the buyer get your payment?

Paypal and Interent transfer for the same Bank = Instant

Bank deposit in the seller's bank branch = Instant / Next day

Interenet Transfer with different Banks = 2-5 days

Money Order = 2-3 days

Cheque = 2 to 3 days for post + 3 to 5 days to clear it

Note that in here, we are concerning a fast transcation thus Paypal and Bank deposit will be the most preferred methods. However there are somethings that you may need to consider when you are choosing your payment method. I will write another lazy guild about this issue later.

5)Choost the fast and the right posting method (Express will be of course the fastest, registered should also be considered if you don't have a secured mail box or you live in a place where the the item is hard to deliever or easy to be stolen)

Regular = 1-10 days depends on where you and the seller live

Express = 1-2 days, 1 day if you live in CBD, 2 days if you don't live in CBD ( CBD = Central Business District, usually is where the main suburbs are)

Registered = same as Regular

Registered is very important to expensive items as well as a fast transaction . A lost item may take very long for buyer to trace it or to get another one. Generally if registered post is an option, seller shouldn't have responsibility on posting lost. Thus it's your choice to be safe or to be safer with registered post.  I have posted many items by Australia Post and the lost rate is about 0.1%. It is quite low however it does happen. Thus if registered post is not too expensive, it's worth to choose it for a peace of mind.

This is the end of all the long explainations. I know that there may be some mistakes within this guide but please takes the good things out of it and also point them out to make others learn more. Also I'm really happy to see some reviews on this guide and all comments on this guide are welcome. The only way to make this better is to have more different opinions and more discussion on this guide.

This is my first guide and I hope you enjoyed in reading it. Again wish all of you will have happy, easy and fast transactons on eBay. Thank You!
