Green tea is perhaps one of the healthiest of all caffeinated beverages. This is due to its high anti-oxidant content and its ability to decrease the storage of body fat.

Extracts take the most beneficial of compounds out of the green tea and present in an isolated, concentrated form. Green tea extract has been found to inhibit the absorption of fat in the intestine thereby inhibiting the storage of fats in the body. Furthermore, a study conducted in 2012 in Biological Trace Elements Research confirmed that green tea extract improves body mass index, lipid profile, HDL levels (good cholesterol) and increases overall antioxidant status in obese individuals. 

On the topic of antioxidants, those found in green tea are particularly potent.  The antioxidant power of green tea catechins was confirmed in various scientific journals, including Current Medicinal Chemistry. The study that was published in the aforementioned journal confirmed that green tea catechins not only increases antioxidant activity but simultaneously inhibit prooxidant activity. Catechins also improve vascular tone by increasing the body’s NO 2 levels; this also prevents vascular inflammation and prevents the accumulation of plaque in the arteries of the heart. 

The human body often secretes inflammatory chemicals known as cytokines inappropriately which can harm you over time, but catechins have also been found to inhibit an enzyme known as NF-Kb which plays a role in cytokine production. 

Green tea extract not only aids in weight loss and antioxidant levels but can also improve the circulatory system and aid in the prevention of heart disease.
