Don’t Panic

There’s no right or wrong when it comes to perfume. Buying it is a personal thing, but it’s also a way for you to introduce different scents to your friends or family.

Yes, some people have a signature scent, but there will always be a time of day or occasion where they’ll want to wear something different. It’s best to go with something not too floral and not too sweet, such as Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana.

Know Their Personality

Does your friend have a sweet tooth? If so, they’ll probably also like sweet-smelling perfumes. If they love flowers, they’ll probably want a floral perfume.

And if they don’t really wear any perfume, then it’s up to you to introduce them to something new so they can decide what they do and don’t like. A good starter perfume is Dahlia Noir Perfume by Givenchy, as it’s not too over the top, but is still lovely enough to create a lasting memory.

What Do You Like?

It’s always an honour when someone buys you a perfume they like, thinking you’ll like it too. It’s nice to share the things you like with the people you care about.

Plus, every time they wear the perfume, they’ll think of you! However, if your tastes aren’t the same, it may be a good idea to ask them what they like.

What Do They Like?

If the person you’re buying perfume for doesn’t really ever wear perfume, it’s good to find out what sort of scents they like. Sweet smells?

Woody scents? Spicy aromas? You’d like to hope that the perfume you buy for them is one they can wear for a whole.
You can ask them outright what sort of smell they like, and either explain to them that you’re buying them perfume, or keep it as a surprise! A great perfume to give to someone who is unsure of what they like is Sublime Perfume by Jean Patou.
