How to Take a STUNNING Picture!!!

Like if this Guide is helpful

The best way to sell your item on eBay is to have a STUNNING photo, to showcase your item in all its detail (and to show any flaws also). The best way to do this is to take your photo of your item in a "Light Box", and the easiest way to do this is to Make one!

All you will need is the following:

  • Your Digital Camera
  • Small to Med Cardboard Box (for smaller items, jewelery etc)
  • Scissors/Stanley Knife
  • Masking Tape
  • Baking/ Tracing Paper
  • White construction paper/ coloured fabric
  • Desk light/ reading light

First of all, you need to get your box, and cut "windows" in 3 sides (leaving about 3-4cm on the edges)

Next, you will need to get out your baking paper or tracing paper (i used baking paper as it is more available in the household), and cut off just enough to cover the 3 windows you have just cut out of the box. Use the masking tape to secure all 4 sides of the paper onto the box. And then you will have a window covered with slightly translucent paper. Perfect!

Now, do this to the remaining 2 sides. The side that you have left in tact will be the base of the light box, and the actual original "bottom" of the box will now be the back wall of your light box. The opening flaps should now be on the front, and you will have windows on the top and 2 sides if this makes sense.

Now all you have to do is put in your desired coloured background. This will be the colour in behind the item that you are taking the picture of. For mine, i used a zebra print paper, but you can use fabric, felt or plain white paper (white works best), as long as it can go from the back to the bottom of the box.

When you've got your background in place, put in your item in, and place a desk lamp either on the side or from the top, depending on where you want the light to be coming from. If it works, you shouldn't really need the flash, as it will look like natural light showing your item in all it's glory! So Get Snapping!!
