How to avoid Pirated Video Games

The sheer amount of pirated movies and games coming out of Asia is flabbergasting. It's a sad indictment on ebays policies that they rely on the VERO system to monitor this. The only way we can put an end to this is to stop purchasing the pirated items and to stop leaving positive feedback for pirates. The first step is identifying pirated items - usually ANY item that doesn't explicitly say that it is an original and authorised release is a pirate. YES EVERY ITEM THAT DOESN"T SPECIFIALLY SAY IT'S NOT GENUINE IS FAKE.

Signs to Look for :

Country of Origin - Anything out of Hong Kong, China and Canada is seriously dubious. Why canada? The Asian piraters have set themselves up to sell from there but ship from Asia. Also many Australian Sellers are in fact just relaying pirated goods from Hong Kong locations.

Private Feedback - If someone has private feedback, you can bet it's not for an honest reason.

Packaging - Does the game come with manual and box? If not - probably pirated.

Does the Seller respond to questions about authenticity. If not this is the biggest sign and can be used with virtually 100% accuracy. I've yet to receive a response from a pirate.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO TO AVOID BEING STUNG BY A PIRATE IS TO PAY USING PAYPAL.

What to do if you receive a pirated Item?

Open a 'item significantly not as described' dispute. If you have paid with paypal then you should have no problems getting a full refund.

Withhold your feedback til you get the desire you want.

Contact the Verified Rights Holder they are the only people who can have ebay stop a seller from selling.

REMEMBER YOU CAN'T RESELL A PIRATED ITEM ON EBAY
