The expensive option

If you only need to insert Lift-The -Dots occasionally you do not need an expensive pinch for the job.
You probably already have the tools in your tool box which will do the job

What do you need

Start with a small blade screw driver with a blade width of 2mm.  You will use this to cut the four (4) slots in the material.  You will do this by using the hammer with the required force to cut the material while it is on the scrap wood being used as the anvil.

First we need to mark possition of the slits in the material

Working on the outside of the material we will push the Lift-The-Dot onto the material (finger pressure usually enough) then marl the positions so you don't loose them.  Now we bring in the  tools we have.  Put the material over the wood, you need this so the screw driver can cut through the material.  Place the screw driver in the four marks and a tap with the hammer on the screw driver to cut the holes.  Next we need to put a hole in the middle of the slits.  We can use a 4mm wad punch or burn it through with a hot wire.
