I bid, but I want to cancel it. Can I cancel my bid?

Once you have placed a bid on a particular auction, eBay does not provide buyers the facility to cancel their bids on their own. If at all you want to do so for any reason, you will have to get in touch with the respective seller and request them to cancel your bid.

Please contact the seller through the link provided by eBay to do so. Alternatively, you could also send the seller an email on their email address if you happen to have it. Try to explain the genuine problem that you have to the seller and request them to retract your bid. Make sure that you contact the seller as soon as you have decided to cancel your bid and please do not wait until the close of the auction to do so. If the auction closes and your bid is awarded as the winning one, you have a binding obligation to make payment and failure to do so could lead to you being reported as a Non Paying Bidder.

Thus, do get in touch with the seller with plenty of time to spare in terms of the closing of the auction. Mention the product that you had placed a bid on and also mention the amount of your bid. Do remember to state the number of the auction listing or the product number, whichever had been provided to you.

If the seller is kind enough, they will agree to retract your bid, else you will have no option but to honor the contract if you do happen to win.
